Check it Out! Oklahoma City Museum of Arts FILMS

We’ve certainly touted the Museum’s amazing gallery space and cool exhibits, but today I wanted to brag on its film program. This weekend I went to see “Precious” at the art museum’s theatre. It was such a great experience, I’ve been talking about it all weekend!

The theater has stadium seating and the overall feeling is that you are in one classy place (no gum stuck to seats or spilled Coke to be found). There are only a few previews and they promote the museum’s upcoming films. Below is a pic that shows the inside of the theater:

What I particularly loved is that before the film started, the film program’s director came out and told us some “behind the scenes” knowledge about the movie. He only spoke for about 5 minutes, but his background made me appreciate the film that much more.

In the last few weeks, the museum has been showing Oscar-nominated films. Talk about cool…in most cases, the museum is the only place you can see these movies in the city!

Clearly I’m making this post too long, so I’ll cut it off. Seriously, check out the list of upcoming films and give one a try. http://www.okcmoa.com/film

And here's your reminder to see Oscar movies this week (the Academy Awards are THIS SUNDAY). There's still time and thank goodness for the museum's many showings!
