Getting to Know the Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma

Lindsay McIntyre - Friday, January 15, 2010

Allied Arts LOVES highlighting local arts groups, whether they are part of our specific arts umbrella or not. That’s why you’ll see us periodically posting information about arts organizations that bring cultural value to Oklahoma City and beyond.

Today, we hope you’ll get to know Brightmusic. Brightmusic is a chamber music ensemble made up of some of the area’s finest professional musicians. Members of Brightmusic are prominent local musicians, teaching at leading universities and holding titled chairs in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

Chamber music is said to be the most intimate of musical forms, and Brightmusic strives to add dimension and richness to Central Oklahoma through a diverse repertoire of performances. In addition to enjoying the concerts, audiences can connect with the musicians through informative talks and “meet and greets” during and after the shows.

This below photo was taken at Brightmusic’s Aug. 25, 2009 concert. The musicians in the photo are: Gregory Lee (violin), Royce McLarry (viola), Amy I-Lin Cheng (piano), Jonathan Ruck (cello), Chad Burrow (clarinet) and Kate Pritchett (horn).

Allied Arts encourages you to attend an upcoming Brightmusic performance. Admission to concerts is on a donation basis for OKCityCard holders.
