The Energy Continues...

Bailey Gordon - Tuesday, September 07, 2010
Well, folks, we know you didn't get your fill of Red Bull or their high-energy art exhibit at the "Art of Can" event last Friday.  We didn't either! That's why this exhibit has made its way over to Leadership_Square to continue its run here in OKC.

Pieces from this awesome exhibit will be on display in the main lobby in downtown OKC today through Friday.  If you haven't gotten the chance to see it, you need to!  Where else will you see an image of Michael Jackson, a robot dog and a ball gown made with Red Bull cans?

Here are a few photos from the event.  To see more, visit our Flickr page.

These will be on display at Leadership Square!

Shirin Askari from Project Runway Season 6 came with her Red Bull wings! She was my favorite that season!

Our friends at Traction Marketing group gave a great recap of the event on their blog.  Give them a visit!

Job Opportunity at Allied Arts

Lindsay McIntyre - Wednesday, August 04, 2010

Hi guys,

I'm SO sad to say that I'll be leaving Allied Arts next week for a new opportunity. It was such a difficult decision to leave this fabulous place, but I'm excited to spread my arts advocacy at a new place in OKC.

No Face Left Un-Painted

Bailey Gordon - Monday, July 26, 2010

This weekend was full of hot weather and heavy-hitters for Allied Arts as we manned a booth at the World Cup of Softball here in OKC.  We provided free face painting to kids of all ages and met families from across the country that ventured to the heartland to watch world-class softball.

Here are some of our face paint masterpieces:

One of the smallest Team USA fans, this little girl was decked out in her red, white and blue to cheer on her team!

Some really spirited fans asked for their entire faces to be turned into softballs.  Here’s one of my works-in-progress.

The Jennie Finch fans were out in full-force! Everyone wanted to catch one of her last games and wish her well before her retirement.  This little girl was sure to be noticed with her red face that boasted Jennie’s name and her number, 27.

The tournament concludes today with games at 4 and 8 pm.  Visit www.usasoftball.com for tickets and cheer on Team USA!

We want YOU to vote!

Have it Your Way

Bailey Gordon - Thursday, April 29, 2010

We decided to “have it our way” and take a staff field trip to Burger King for lunch yesterday.  What did we find when we got there?  The trays were covered with a special OKCityCard tray liner!  OK, so we knew they would be there, but we did want to see them in person!

The tray liners display the Burger King offer which is a 2-for-1 sandwich.  This goes for Whoppers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers and the like.  Think you may not use this offer?  Think again!  Lindsay and I were sandwich buddies and ate for super cheap (half price for each of us)!  Or you could be like our Finance Director, John. He orders both sandwiches just because it saves him $5. His reasoning - why not eat 2 sandwiches when one’s free?

This offer is good at 8 Burger King locations. Click here to find one near you!

Angye, Lindsay, Price and I proudly display our tray liners.  I also want to point out my sweet Iron Man 2 cup and the fries, which were other highlights of the trip.

Radio OKC: Hitting the Streets for the Arts

Bailey Gordon - Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Here’s how you can help: pick up any of the items listed below and drop them off at the Radio OKC broadcast site located at “Windscapes,” adjacent to the South Hudson Gallery entrance on Reno.

Help out with the children’s programs:

• plastic-handled scissors
• markers
• crayons
• craft glue
• oil pastels
• chalk pastels
• drawing pencils, erasers, and hand-held pencil sharpeners

• assorted beads
• portable CD player
• old clothing and costumes (child sizes)
• fabric scraps
• rhythm instruments
• masks
• children’s music and musicals on CD

Help out with day-to-day operations:

The Arts Council of Oklahoma City makes a tremendous impact on the quality of life in our city.  Let’s show them how much we appreciate their work!  And, don’t forget to tune in to Radio OKC at http://radiookc.com/!
