Love's Labours Lost
Marked as one of Shakespeare's wittiest comedies, this play boasts the story of four men who give up food, drink and women for the sake of fame. Shakespeare throws a twist in the plot by introducing four women into the story in order to test the promises of the men and keep the audience on their toes.
Love's Labours Lost will be showing in the Burg Theatre on OCU's campus at 8:00 pm this Thursday, Friday and Saturday with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday. And don't forget to take your OKCityCard with you! It will get you 2-for-1 tickets to the show.
We're lucky to have TheatreOCU right here in OKC. The program houses some of the most talented college students in the country. I was blown away by the last OCU production I saw! If you haven't been to OCU in a while, you should definitely check out Love's Labours Lost!

Good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us.

Check out Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's 12X12 art show and sale tomorrow night and see if you can find a piece that moves you. I'm sure it won't be hard!

It’s the last weekend in September. Is it just me, or has this month just flown by? It’s probably because there are so many great things to do – time flies when you’re having fun! Speaking of fun, it’s time to mention some of this weekend’s arts events. It’s the last weekend for Carpenter Square Theatre’s Leading Ladies (I’ve heard great things) and this is the only chance you’ll get to see OVAC’s unique art show and sale, 12X12. Visit the web sites for more information. Have fun!

I love this photo of Joel Levine. Just watching he and the strings players are two of my favorite things about Philharmonic performances!
Celebrate the Arts This Weekend
If you’re in Bricktown on Saturday evening, look out for Justin Witte singing the blues and jazz. He’ll perform from 5-7 pm courtesy of the Arts Council of Oklahoma City’s Out of the Box program.
Beginning today through October 9, Individual Artists of Oklahoma hosts an exhibition of new artworks by Tulsa artists, Mazen Abufadil and Laurie Spencer. There will be an opening reception tonight from 6-9 pm at the IAO Gallery.
Take a short drive to Shawnee and view their current special exhibit “Andean Dreamers: Pre-Columbian Inca Textiles” at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art. The museum is offering free admission until September 30.
On Saturday, drop in the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Education Center to make “Fantastic Frescoes.” From 1-4pm, guest artists will work with families to create their own masterpiece through the museum’s Drop In Art program which is free with paid admission to the museum.
I hope your celebration of National Arts in Education Week has been as fun as ours! Keep advocating the importance of arts education and its life-changing power.
