We heART the Thunder

Bailey Gordon - Wednesday, June 13, 2012
What’s one thing we love about the NBA Finals being in OKC? All the creative ways fans are showing their Thunder pride! From window murals and chalk art to artsy T-shirts, face paint, food and even songs and videos about our team, Oklahomans are some of the most creative fans in the world.

We want to see your creative displays of Thunder pride! Tag Allied Arts OKC in your photos on Facebook or #heARTthunder on Twitter or Instagram.  You can send us photos of things you’ve created or just cool stuff you see around town.  Every couple of days we’ll post the photos to our blog – check back in and see if yours is included!

Plus, we’ll choose one winner for the most creative display on Tuesday before Game 4. That lucky person will receive an OKCityCard (valued at $50) to use for discounts at arts events and museums, restaurants, sporting events, and especially for new Thunder gear at awesome local stores.

Let’s show the world how much we heART our Thunder!  Thunder up!

Here's a couple of examples of some Thunder-themed creativity that we've seen!

Our OKCityCard partner, Kamp's 1910 Cafe had these cute cupcakes on display at lunch!

Our staff loved this mural on Automobile Alley so much that we took a picture in front of it in our Thunder colors!

Collected 3

Bailey Gordon - Wednesday, September 07, 2011

This weekend, one of our OKCityCard partners is celebrating their birthday in a big way.  Collected Thread is hosting Collected 3, a birthday bash like no other, this Friday and Saturday night in honor of its third anniversary.  Collected Thread is a handmade boutique that houses beautifully made items.  This store is committed to promoting the work of local artists and designers, with more than half of its merchandise made by locals here in OKC.

Here’s the great thing about this party – everyone’s invited!  They will give away cupcakes from Cuppies and Joe on Friday night during LIVE on the Plaza coffee from Café Evoke on Saturday (did I mention that both, Cuppies and Café Evoke are also OKCityCard partners?).  There will be T-shirt and tote bag giveaways both nights as well as a raffle for gift baskets filled with some of Collected Thread’s best stuff.  Plus, for every purchase of 3 items or more, 20% of your ticket will go to the Plaza District Association.

Speaking of giveaways, we’ve got one for you right now!  The lovely Lindsay Zodrow, owner of Collected Thread, has given us this super cute heart sweatshirt dress to give to one lucky winner.  Entering is easy, just post your comment below and we’ll choose a winner at random on Friday morning.  The winner can pick up the dress at Collected Thread (1705A NW 16th St).  With a handmade dress by Fluffyco, the winner will be dressed perfectly for the party!

Since Collected Thread supports local artists by carrying their work, here’s your question:

What’s your favorite thing about the local arts scene here in Central Oklahoma?

Comment with your answer below for your chance to win!

The Guitar: Art, Artisans and Artists

Bailey Gordon - Monday, February 15, 2010

The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum opened a new exhibit this weekend that features a special look at the cowboy’s instrument of choice. “The Guitar: Art, Artisans and Artists” highlights more than 50 guitars that are historically significant or just brilliant works of art.  You’ll learn about the making of guitars and get to see instruments that were played by some of your favorite western musicians, including Garth, Vince and Toby Keith.

Visit the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum here to find out about hours and ticket prices. Don’t forget to take your OKCityCard when you mosey on over to the Museum – it gets you 2-for-1 admission!

Watch our social media networks this week to win two tickets to the Museum.  We're giving a pair away every day! Be sure that you're following Allied Arts @AlliedArtsOKC on Facebook or Twitter. And here's a little hint for the giveaways: you may want to brush up on your singin' cowboy trivia.
