Art in Action
In the 2009-2010 school year, the Allied Arts Educational Outreach Program awarded $106,769 in grants to support 28 arts education projects. These projects, ranging from art camps for the visually impaired and blind to formal ballet classes for talented yet economically disadvantaged students, impacted the lives of 63,877 elementary, middle and high school children.
Nearly every day, Allied Arts receives moving cards, letters and artwork from teachers and students who participated in a project supported by the program. These cards make us laugh, cry and give thanks that these children had the opportunity to experience the beauty and power of dance, visual arts, theatre and music.
We invite you to read through some of the testimonials we received from students who attended a performance of Oklahoma City Ballet’s “Phantom of the Opera” and who received a visit from a troupe of Lyric Theatre performers focusing on the Declaration of Independence.
