JOB PURPOSE:

To provide interns an engaging and valuable experience within our organization and gain an understanding of how a nonprofit organization operates on a daily basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Each program includes but is not limited to the following tasks and requirements. Please make note on your application of any special interests. Depending on the semester, responsibilities may be divided between multiple interns.

Potential intern responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

  • Create & organize assets for Employee Giving Campaigns, including:
    • Online Employee Giving Campaign donation pages for 170+ companies
    • Presentation and meeting assets (Printed Materials, PowerPoint, Prezi, Video Ideas, etc.)
  • Create & organize assets for the OKCityCard Program, including:
    • OKCityCard mobile app
    • OKCityCard website
    • OKCityCard forms, posters, and renewal letters/emails
    • Plus delivery of OKCityCard packets
  • Solicit in-kind donations for Employee Giving Campaign incentives & events
  • Represent Allied Arts at non-profit fairs & booths
  • Create social media posts and/or other marketing assets using Canva, ConstantContact, InDesign, etc.* (*Applicant does not need to be skilled in all programs to apply)
  • Recruit & coordinate event volunteers
  • Assist in writing event permits, thank you notes, and other assets as needed
  • Assist in the execution of donor cultivation and stewardship program
  • Prepare Board of Director materials (Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Organize internal computer filing system to increase organization efficiency
  • Research companies, organizations, foundations, and potential individual donors

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills of ALL Interns

  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects while staying organized
  • Run Errands: Deliver letters, invitations, pick up auction items, etc.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently (with guidance), and take initiative
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Work well with staff, vendors, volunteers and grantees
  • Regular and predictable attendance. Emergencies and sick days may be excused, but we treat internships like a job.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to follow through, handle projects responsibly and keep appropriate staff informed of project updates and progress.
  • Professionally answer and transfer phone calls in the office
  • Must be available to attend events (evenings flexibile)
  • Represent Allied Arts at non-profit fairs and booths.
  • HAVE FUN and learn every aspect of how a nonprofit organization operates
QUALIFICATIONS:

• 6 months to 1 year of current office experience or

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior or

• Recent graduate (if you are a recent graduate, we will expect a commitment through internship semester)

Candidate has unquestioned integrity; a long-term perspective; a strong sense of accountability; a practical ability to get things done; wisdom and good judgment; a fair and thoughtful approach to management, combined with the flexibility and courage to shift direction and experiment with new initiatives; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a high energy level and sense of humor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working in a professional, team focused environment, employees must regularly be able to identify, observe and assess items, information, and objects in an office setting.  Teamwork is critical to our success and employees are regularly required to communicate clearly in various settings.   Regular business hours are from 8:30 – 5:00 M-F, with occasional off-site events requiring additional time on nights, weekends, and early mornings.  Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job as required under applicable law. Interns have the opportunity for remote work after 60 days of employment and mileage reimbursement on a case-by-case basis.

Please read before applying: Please note that this is a paid internship experience. All internships require a minimum of 180 hours and 15 hours per week spent in the office until completion of internship. Preference may be given to students willing to commit to two semesters. Please consider school and any extracurricular activities before applying. We allow students to be very involved in creating their schedule, so we expect you can commit to the required time spent in the office.  

Length of semester-long internship – Spring (January-June) | Fall (July-December)*

*Start/end dates flexible; to be coordinated with supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must occasionally transport and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Utilizes multi-limb coordination to balance on even or uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand and walk, reach over shoulders or below the knees. Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job as required under applicable law. Must hold a valid driver’s license, good driving record, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation (some local travel may be required).
